Grant, Lord,
that we who are baptized into the death
of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ
may continually put to death our evil desires
and be buried with him;
and that through the grave and gate of death
we may pass to our joyful resurrection;
through his merits, who died and was buried
and rose again for us,
your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Last night's Tenebrae was a fitting end to the Holy Week series led by the United Churches on the Lisburn Road. Going through the darkness of this week, and the emotions stirred by the Tenebrae, leave us ready for Easter Day. Today, for the first disciples, this was a day of rest ... the Sabbath. What a dark day it must have seemed.
For us ... it is a day of preparation ... time to restore the church building to its glory with white and gold furnishings and flowers ... time to prepare for the Easter Breakfast ... time to reflect on the Easter message ...
You'll not be surprised to see Eliot in the church helping with the preparations for the Tenebrae! One of these days he's going to be sufficiently well behaved to join me during a service! But not yet! I suspect he'd be a huge distraction ... at the moment he moves from person to person in the hope of some kind of treat!
So ...
let the preparations begin!
