Day off ....

Looking forward to a day of relaxation and fun with meeting friends, walking dog and a great deal of "nothing very much at all"!
Eliot got things off to a good start last night as he just flopped on the mat - fast asleep!
He appears to be comfortable wherever he is ...
Meanwhile ... a little order was being created out of the inevitable chaos of the kitchen benches.  Why is it that they become so cluttered?  For that, the dog cannot be blamed ... even if he did pinch a biscuit that had been left beside my chair!  He's pretty good at that kind of tidying up!
Spring is fully here as this colourful bed near to Saint Anne's Cathedral demonstrates.  Suddenly it is full and bright so that even a dull day becomes lightened with the "sunshine".
To my mind this extreme pruning in another place around Belfast is a bit of an eyesore!  In summer they look reasonable as balls of greenery ... the lollipop shape of a child's drawing ... but ... it isn't quite what I'd do!
Finally this shot is a reminder that there's a sermon to prepare for this coming Sunday evening.  The three men have already preached during the Lent Series ... "Pilgrimage" is the general theme we've been using. This week is my turn and I suspect Saint Patrick may get a mention or two!  Six churches gather for a united evening service each Sunday and attendance has been encouraging.  The practice of taking on an extra Lenten discipline hasn't quite stopped.

Almighty God,
in your providence you chose your servant Patrick
to be the apostle of the Irish people,
to bring those who were wandering in darkness and error
to the true light and knowledge of your Word:
Grant that walking in that light
we may come at last to the light of everlasting life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
