A bit of a nuisance ... and a nice surprise!

So, how much do we rely on our cars to take us around?  Without it you suddenly realise that it is often taken for granted.

Well, this morning, the old faithful was carted off to the repair shop to have new suspension or springs or something!  Anyhow, it wasn't safe to drive and maybe the garage will attend to one or two other niggling problems like the leaky boot.

Unfortunately the garage is snowed under with work so it may be a day or two before they have an opportunity to look at it.  The numerous potholes around the city seem to be responsible for more than one broken spring!

One good outcome is the extra walking done ... well over the 10,000 steps today!  Part of that was a quick walk in the park en route to the shop to buy milk.  Such ordinary things make up our lives.

Many trees in the city have numbers ... I'd like to find out a bit more about this and see if there's a register somewhere that lists all the trees.  I can't imagine that it is random.

From quite a distance, when the sun is shining, the little aluminium tags flash brightly.

Afternoon was committee work and now this evening I've been at the desk and enjoying a print that arrived in today's mail.  It is a Leonid Afremov called, "Loneliness of Autumn".  To me it doesn't speak of loneliness ... but that is the artist's meaning.

I was introduced to his work by an American friend and would love to fill the house with his vibrant colours.  The nearest I have already is Tanya Mai Johnson's image of Ben Bulben.

Meanwhile, cooking my dinner was a golden opportunity for Dougal to do his bit in the kitchen.  Any splashes or spills and he's right there to clear them away!
