The wedding day ...

... for Richard and Collette.

This, the top of their cake gives you some idea of the sense of fun that they have.  All the tables were named after Bond films!
The ceremony was in Saint Brigid's in Londonderry ... a beautiful semi-circular church with a continuous mural of the stations of the cross.
Local people were used as models for the faces!
The mural makes a very interesting background to a congregation.
This is a "must go back" place so that I can study the paintings in detail.
As we began the service we gathered our thoughts together in the Collect ... Be attentive to our prayers, O Lord ...
Then the two smaller candles were lit by Collette and Richard ... symbols of their individuality.  After they were married they lit the central candle and extinguished the two separate ones.  A beautiful moment of quiet symbolism.
It was nearly too bright and sunny for photographs after the wedding
... and there was a bit of a wind blowing too!
I wish I'd been in front of Collette when the wind caught her veil ... I do hope the official photographer captured the moment.!
This "bad" picture is actually one of my favourites.  As Richard and Collette left Saint Brigid's the sun was just below the door lintel ... a sun flare that worked (in my opinion)!
Then to Solis ... the Lough Eske Castle Hotel ... this is part of my room!  It's quite a trek from the kettle (off to the right of the picture) to the desk ... very comfortable and pleasant.  I could get used to this lifestyle!
Tomorrow ... a day off ... a summer holiday leftover couple of days ... and another hotel on the journey back to Belfast ... I wonder how it will compare!
PS ... the font in Saint Brigid's is magnificent ...
It is a feature of great beauty and used regularly in a busy and thriving congregation.  Recently Fr Dermott had eight baptisms on one Sunday!
I nearly forgot to mention how wonderful it was to meet up with a whole gang of friends ... these eight just happened to be in the same place at the right time!
A very, very happy and relaxed day.  May God bless this new home of Richard and Collette ...
