The day outside was dull and wet ... but the stained glass was making the building look cheery and bright.
I can look at these windows for ages; remembering the stories portrayed and enjoying the artistic genius that designed and created them.
From the (now disused) gallery the view is always good and you have a sense of the size and proportions of the church.
Think of the generations who have worshipped here since 1901 ... what a history the pews could tell! And some of them with their schoolboy carvings almost shout aloud! I imagine this comes from generations a long time ago and perhaps fulfils the saying: "Satan finds some mischief still for idle hands to do"!
With various appointments and things to do AND very heavy rain ... I forgot to take a sky picture! It was grey. Dark, heavy grey clouds! Indeed ... I have so many pictures like that you'd imagine that it was sometimes the same one.
iGoogle gives the local weather and earlier this evening temperatures were a very mild thirteen degrees Celsius.
Now we are come to the sun's hour of rest,
the lights of evening round us shine;
we hymn the Father, Son and Holy Spirit divine.
Church Hymnal number 699 verse 2
Phos hilaron (3rd Century or earlier) translated John Keble (1792-1866)
