If at first you don't succeed ...

... give it to your friends to finish!
The world's most difficult jigsaws live up to their title!  Every year my Wee Sister tries to find a challenging puzzle for me ... and this, finally finished, was the 2009 contribution!
And no ... I didn't do it!  Some very good friends have worked and worked and worked on it until they brought it back a couple of days ago.
What is so complicated about that?  Well, the purple face was reasonably straightforward ... although ...
The thing is ... it is a double sided puzzle with the same picture on both sides!  That makes it a lot harder than the Baked beans/Brussels sprouts one of a few years earlier.  With that one, you knew which side was which.
Not only are the smiley faces on both sides ... the picture is rotated through ninety degrees.  And worse than that ... the cutting of the vertical cuts was done on one side while the horizontal cuts were made on the other side.  That way you can't tell which is "top" and which is "bottom".
To be able to put one piece in the correct place (as far as you could know) was a major achievement!  I can hardly imagine the satisfaction that it must have been to finish the puzzle!  I would have given up on it long ago.
Patience ... need to think about that one!

Almighty and everlasting God,
who, in your tender love towards the human race,
sent your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ
to take upon him our flesh
and to suffer death upon the cross:
Grant that we may follow the example
of his patience and humility,
and also be made partakers of his resurrection;
though Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a challenge that would be!
I just think that would be fun!

I am an avid jigsaw puzzler & love puzzles. I have done many & try to do a couple a year.
My worst one was a round puzzle about 2 feet in diameter, all in red. Each piece was shaped differently & was tapered.
Keeps the mind active :)
