2010:365:231 Holidays are for ...

… doing a lot of nothing (and catching up with wee sister!).
 It’s Thursday so, of course, we were up at dawn for Eliot’s walk.
From the pier at Greencastle you can look across Carlingford Lough towards Omeath, Greenore and Carlingford on the Cooley Peninsula where yesterday’s pictures were taken.
Greencastle itself was closed.
At seven o’clock you’d not really expect it to be open!  It’s another Norman castle from the John de Courcy building programme and affords excellent views along Carlingford Lough.
On the way back home when stopping to buy eggs I saw some freshly dug potatoes – British Queens.  That’s the variety served yesterday in Omeath so they’re on the menu for today’s meal here.
Unlike most of the potatoes that you buy in supermarkets these come with the earth still clinging to their skins.
Now (with one more look at Kilkeel harbour in the early morning) it’s time to put away the computer and pull out all the books that I’ve intended to read this summer and still haven’t opened!  ... or maybe tomorrow!

Break thou the bread of life,
dear Lord to me,
as thou didst break the loaves
beside the sea;
beyond the sacred page
I seek thee, Lord,
my spirit longs for thee,
O living Word.
