2010:365:164 Sunday

Playtime!
Just for a few minutes.  365Project collage for today.
Someone suggested that the Lays might like to have some clothes.  So, we hunted through the toy box and the only garment to be found was a pair of denim shorts that used to belong to a bear!  But, no matter how much Lay-About studied them, front and back, they were not going to fit!  Lay-Zee became very enthusiastic and managed to break an arm in the process....!  No more climbing trees for a day or two.
That was a fun way to relax after the services this morning and the Parish Picnic.  We had a great time. I did very little - Gary took the whole service with the assistance of some of the young people.
When they'd received their end of year gifts we all moved over to the Parish Halls for a picnic and some games.  More fun.
All ages gathered together for a good time of chat around the tables.... it was a little cool to sit outside although that didn't deter the children at all.
The youngest member may not have been terribly engaged in the fun and games.... but the older ones enjoyed themselves.
Being camera shy gave this lady a chance to hide behind a handy cat!
The gorgeous soft little cat (belonging to this picnicker) was made at a birthday party.... gone are the games in the living room and jelly all over the house.  Gone are the restaurant chain gatherings and the swimming pool outings.  And in come the craft party ideas... paint your pottery.... make your soft toy.... How times change!  The girls even got to design the tee shirt that the cuddly toy would wear!
One of our older parishioners who served in the Second World War gave us some songs which were appreciated by everyone.  He was recently back to the Normandy beaches to revisit some of the places he'd known during the war.
The Parish Picnic gives you a chance to see each other properly and to enjoy time together.  We're a mixed and talented group and great fun to be with!

Lord, you have taught us
that all our doings without love are nothing worth:
Send your Holy Spirit
and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love,
the true bond of peace and of all virtues,
without which whoever lives is counted dead before you.
Grant this for our only Son Jesus Christ's sake.  Amen.
