2010:365:131 A bookmarker...

This little brass bookmarker was a gift a long time ago and has been in my hymnal ever since.  The afternoon sun just caught the corner of it as I was looking for a hymn and, since the camera was right beside me, today's picture was captured.
It hadn't been my intention to take that.  In fact, I thought that I'd already taken the photograph for the 365Project.  Remembering the beach at Patara, and the turtles we didn't see, the new turtle earrings from Kas were going to be today's subject.
These are tiny little treasures from my last night in Turkey (if you don't count the one spent at the airport!) will serve as reminders of a lovely warm evening when we ate outside and enjoyed the best of Turkish cuisine.
But back to the little cross.  The paper in the hymnal is white so I thought that I'd play around with some adjustments to get closer to the natural shade.... that just totally washed out the colour from the cross.... so the other extreme was the next experiment... just for fun!
Not only does the camera sometimes lie.... so too does the processing!
The hymn it marks....

Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love, and do what thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure;
until with thee I will one will to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, till I am wholly thine;
until this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life of thine eternity.

Hello Elizabeth,
I just love the words of your hymn.
We attended a funeral today of a dear friend - Bob Batson.
His funeral was in his local church in Mullumbimby in Northern NSW and 500 or more of friends and colleagues attended. He was well respected in the small community.
The music of Glen Miller and his band filled the church as we took our seats. What a lovely atmosphere it created as Bob and his wide Denise used to go to all the country dances.
We were all invited to join them for lunch in the church hall next door. A wonderful celebration of his life.
Your entry today was very apt for my day.
Thank you for your words each day, I enjoy your blog.

that's a lovely memory of someone who sounded such a great person. A fitting memorial.
