2010:365:45 Bean waiting

Coffee beans, fairtrade, lying on the kitchen work top waiting to be ground and turned into an aromatic beverage.  These are a particularly fine Kenyan variety and make a wonderful pot of coffee.
Today has been Sunday and all day, when I wasn't dozing in front of the fire, I've been looking for inspiration.  The photograph opportunity was slow to come - so while waiting for the potatoes to steam I brought the camera to the kitchen in the hope that something would call out "Me! Me!".   The beans did just that.  So, with only the evening lights to help, and no posing at all, today's picture is "Beans waiting".
This week is the beginning of our time of "waiting" for Easter.  A time when we anticipate the joy of resurrection while living through the darker days of self-denial, self-discipline, study, almsgiving and preparation for Easter.  Ash Wednesday is the starting point for this journey.

Almighty and everlasting God,
who, in your tender love towards the human race,
sent your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ
to take upon him our flesh
and to suffer death upon the cross:
Grant that we may follow the example
of his patience and humility,
and also be made partakers of his resurrection;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
