Good Friday

The day is here.  Last night we stripped the church down to the bare furnishings ... and today we keep vigil at the cross...
Eliot woke this morning with a serious case of "bed head"!  It may need to be given a quick brush to restore it to his usual elegant state.
It looks as if he realises that today is one of those days when he won't see too much of his owner!  Three hours this afternoon and then church again this evening with the Tenebrae service!  With a light rain falling and grey skies ... maybe being asleep in a chair isn't a dreadful option!  It looks quite tempting!

Blessed are you, Sovereign God,
Shepherd of your pilgrim people:
their pillar of cloud by day, their pillar of fire by night.
Stir up in us the fire of your love
which shone forth from your Son enthroned on the cross,
that we may be cleansed of all our sins
and be made ready to come into your presence,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit:
Blessed be God for ever!

Celebrating Common Prayer
Friday Evening Prayer

Almighty Father,
Look with mercy on this your family
for which our Lord Jesus Christ
was content to be betrayed
and given up into the hands of sinners
and to suffer death upon the cross;
who is alive and glorified with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

We didn't have Tenebrae but a moving telling of the Passion by some of the young people in church and a powerful reflection read by the Rector. A good Good Friday
