Just about ....

I'm cutting it fine again.  The excuse tonight is that I'm not long home from a lovely evening out with friends ... so the blog won't be too long as bed is calling loudly.  At the moment Eliot is in the garden and, as soon as he returns, I'll sign off for the night.
 There wasn't much opportunity for taking pictures today ... but this heavily and heavenly scented dark red is just beside the door ... too gorgeous to resist.  I've forgotten the name so will hunt around underneath it tomorrow.
The back garden has its smells too ... here the thyme and the chives ... both now ready to be used in cooking ...
... and talking about cooking!  We had beans in the most amazing hot coating for dinner tonight ... Tabasco, Wasabi, cumin and a host of other spices to make it utterly delicious.  It was served with a chunky tomato sauce, rice, roasted vegetables, red cabbage and salad!  We'd started with lentil and carrot soup and finished with fruit salad.  I really could enjoy this style of food very much!
 So ... for those who wanted the daily recipes ... have fun!
 ... and Goodnight!

Almighty God,
by whose providence your servant John the Baptist was wonderfully born,
and sent to prepare the way of your Son our Saviour,
by the preaching of repentance:
Lead us to repent according to his preaching,
and, after his example, constantly to speak the truth,
boldly to rebuke vice, and patiently to suffer for the truth’s sake;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Book of Common Prayer
Collect of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist
