2010:365:282 The Black Stuff

Sticky black treacle ... what other substance can be used to make sandwiches, bake in tarts, used for treacle sponge or bread and add a distinctive flavour to a Christmas pudding?  I love the slightly bitter caramelized flavour of Lyle's Black Treacle.  So Frank had to pose with the new tin.
365Project followers are divided - not as to "like" or "dislike".  They're divided because a number of them have never heard of treacle or have only read about it in novels or remember Harry Potter's favourite treacle tart.
The Old Testament lion symbol from the story of Samson is used in the design with the quotation, "Out of the strong came forth sweetness".  The full story and how he used the riddle is in the book of the Judges.
I think the tin design is more or less the same as it has been for many years.  Now the weight is 454g and not 1lb, but apart from that it still looks as it did when we were younger.
The black and white cover is simply my apron which is now beginning to look a little faded ... but it still does the job it was intended to do, and more besides!
365Project picture was a collage today - so that the different angles with Frank could be shared.
Maybe before Frank has to leave we'll have him investigate some syrup too.

O God,
from whom all holy desires
all good judgements
and all just works proceed:
Give to your servants
that peace which the world cannot give,
that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments
and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
