2010:365:106 Friday night

365Project "Show your face" has been quite a challenge this week.  I'd always prefer to take pictures of Eliot or of flowers than have to point the camera in my direction.
Until the Gorilla Pod arrives I'm still finding places to balance the camera. This time it was the plate shelf that runs round the hallway.  Light coming from the tall window makes the hall a very bright place as it bounces off the white and off-white surfaces.  The first picture was a disaster as the Venetian blinds made me look like a zebra.  (Pity I deleted it - in retrospect it was quite amusing!)
The plate shelf is a useful place for all sorts of things, including plates!  It has a fair share of turtles, bottles and various other ornaments.
Today was one of those occasions when nothing worked out as intended.  The "things to do" sometimes have to take second place to the emergency or the urgent....and so they drop a place or two down the pecking order.  Hopefully during tomorrow there will be a chance to catch up with a few of them, but Saturday has its own regular jobs that must be done.
In all of this poor old Eliot gets neglected.  However, yesterday's running around and the warmer weather means that he was happy just to flop today.
He is an adorable picture of contentment when he dozes off although one photograph was enough to rouse him and the chance of any further pictures was lost.
So, with inspiration at an all time low I snapped a few frames of the orchid that was a Christmas present and decided that was enough for one day.  The beauty of this long lasting flower never ceases to please me.  How delicate the petals, how exquisite the design and how wonderful creator God.

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds in a believer's er!
It soothes our sorrows, heals our wounds, and drives away our fear.
It makes the wounded spirit whole, and calms the troubled breast;
'tis manna to the hungry soul, and to the weary rest.
