2010:365:76 X is for XXX

What can you say about "Triple X"?  They should come with a warning - not suitable for vegetarians as well as the information that is already carried "the stronger extra strong mints".  They certainly live up to the hype.
The only thing that I could see around the house was a packet of Xerox paper which was going to be the illustration for today until, while doing some late night shopping, the XXX mints called to me from the shelf.
This is Saint Patrick's Day - and a gentle rain is falling.  Patrick would need to get a move on and turn up the sunny side of the stone or we'll have a long spell of unsettled weather.  I'll celebrate the Eucharist at 1.00 pm today as we do every Wednesday - it will be interesting to see if we have more or fewer folk coming along.  Sometimes the "Church Open" sign that we put on the pavement draws in one or two visitors who join us for the service.  Most just drop in for a little bit of quiet in the middle of the day.
This afternoon is the Ulster Schools Cup - the second oldest rugby tournament in the world.  My interest today won't be as intense as last year when one of my parishioners was in the XV for Methody.  The competition has been played every year since 1876 and is now televised from Ravenhill.  Today's game is between BRA and Ballymena Academy - I can watch as a totally unbiased spectator!
So, a Happy Saint Patrick's Day to any readers!

Almighty God,
in your providence you chose your servant Patrick
to be the apostle of the Irish people,
to bring those who were wandering in darkness and error
to the true light and knowledge of your Word:
Grant that walking in that light
we may come at last tot he light of everlasting life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Book of Common Prayer
Collect of Saint Patrick

Is it possible to be unbiased in a schools cup final? I struggle even when Methody aren't participating, which granted, is not often :-p
