The season of Advent speeds past with Nine Lessons and Carols at Saint Nicholas' this Sunday coming. What a joy that will be!
This year we're taking a global perspective and the nine lessons will be in different languages - both contemporary (German, Spanish, Polish, Irish, Russian, French and English) and bible (Latin, Greek) languages. The choir anthems will also represent three different countries - France, Finland and England.
The Christian faith is for all people in every nation. Christ, the light of the world, is central to the proclamation of the incarnation. On the next Sunday that will be the focus again as we enjoy the Christingle service...more about that later...
It is an exciting time of year when we have the chance to think again about the coming of Christ - not just as a baby in Bethlehem or as the future second coming - but his coming among us today in all kinds of unexpected ways. Sometimes we miss his appearing because we become so caught up in the rush and fuss of preparation.
