Resting in God's Hands...

The title is from a morning of prayer planned for tomorrow - 4th July. Taking time out to be still and listen isn't the easiest thing to do in a busy schedule...but then it becomes more necessary. When you start hitting the wrong keys as you type (and how grateful I am for the system in Kilkeel High School where there were opportunities in A Level years to take practical subjects) then you know you're past the time when you should have taken time out...
Listening prayer is different from the times you spend daily, or from the opportunities there are to pray for others. This is Q U I E T. It is listening to some verses or a story from the bible and then, in the silence of the time set aside, to chew over it in much the same way as you'd suck on a boiled sweet. Here we allow God to speak through the passage and respond to God's voice so that a conversation develops.
So with Holiday Club, post to collect from some central depot because I wasn't at home, parish work, sermons....I need a QUIET DAY - roll on the 4th July!!!!!!!!!!
